My passion for education stems from my own love of learning. I believe that every student can and has the right to learn. It is my job as a teacher, to guide them to reach their highest potential and aspirations. In order for students to achieve that, I must provide them with a classroom that allows for hands on discovery which promotes higher order thinking skills. The classroom environment must also provide each student a safety net in which they are free to explore, question, challenge, and grow their own ideas and those of others.
In my experiences, all students are different. This diversity is not limited to appearance. Students differ in learning abilities, preferences, and background knowledge/experiences. Spending time getting to know each student not only helps to build positive, long lasting relationships but also allows for a teacher to gain insight into the classroom diversity. I take pride in my ability to incorporate differentiation into all areas of my classroom and lessons.
I believe in a student centered, constructivist classroom where student conversation and exploration drives learning. It is a goal of mine to have students experience learning on all levels, individual, small group, large group, and guided practice throughout a lesson or unit. To achieve this in my classroom I must first achieve a strong foundation in classroom management.
Throughout my entire career I will continue to accommodate all student’s learning needs. I will be an effective educator who encourages and achieves student growth. It is my goal to help students find and seize their highest potential by creating a secure and student driven classroom for them to thrive in.
